Rudolph's J series Digital Refractometers are automatic with an LCD screen. Refractive Index being highly temperature-sensitive the sample's temperature from models J57 and above is controlled by the electronic heating and cooling Peltier technology. Through the keypad the temperature of the sample can be set thus avoiding the use of water-baths which are clumsly, cumbersome and costly.
The J series Digital Refractometers cater to a very wide range of industries including food, pharma, petroleum, chemical, petrochemical etc.. From models J157 and above the Rudolph Refractometers heat the sample from the prism and also from the top cover. This is very crucial when the samples are being used with volatile solvents. The volatile solvents if not heated from the above tend to evaporate thus increasing the concentration. In such a case, the reading of RI would keep fluctuating as the concentration keeps changing.
The prism of all J series is very shallow that it is very easy to clean the previous sample. When the next sample is to be introduced the cleaing is a simple swipe with a tissue and the instrument becomes ready for the next analysis.
